6 ways to stay healthy at home

If coronavirus COVID-19 means you’re working from home, have children home from school or are just practising social distancing to protect yourself and others, it’s important to stay as healthy as possible so that if you contract coronavirus, you have the best chance possible to fight it off.

1. Eat nutritious food

There are some fantastic immune-boosting, tasty recipes here. Kids at home tend to be hungry every five minutes so save your sanity (and your budget) with these healthy tummy filler ideas.

2. Stay hydrated

Staying healthy means making sure you don’t get dehydrated by not drinking enough. Staying home as much as possible means making your own hot and cold drinks with your BIBO Water Bar. Use apps such as HousepartyZoom or FaceTime so you can still catch up with your friends and fill your cup in more ways than one. You can find some great drink recipe ideas here.

3. Remain active

If you’re a gym bunny, see if your gym is offering online classes or check out YouTube for a whole range of videos you can workout alongside. Need to keep the kids busy? There are some fun ideas here.

4. Get fresh air – safely

In most states, we are currently still allowed out to exercise if we practise social distancing so go for a run but on your own, not with friends; take your dog for a walk but stay well clear of other walkers. In short, use common sense and if you have one, use your backyard.

5. Stick to a routine

Humans tend to be creatures of habit and suddenly not going to work, taking the kids on the school run or going to your usual exercise class or book club meeting can easily knock us off kilter. Get up at your usual time, shower and dress as you would normally (a PJ day once in a while if it makes you feel good is just fine!), exercise and then get down to the business of the day. It helps with a sense of security and brings calm and order to what can be a worrying, uncertain time.

6. Look after your head

Download an app such as this free one to learn how to meditate or practise yoga from an online video such as these. You’re social distancing or self-isolating but that does not mean you have to be alone when it comes to catching up with friends on the phone or on social media. Feelings of being overwhelmed are nothing to be ashamed of so if you’re struggling or know someone who is, don’t hesitate to call the numbers below for help.
